Episode 20: Toxic Positivity
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
In this episode we talk about toxic positivity and how it can be detrimental in the grieving process. Being positive is not a bad thing, trying to stay positive when going through a situation is also not a bad thing and it can often help in dealing with the situation. Supressing and dismissing emotions that should be natural to a situation because someone else could have it worse, or because you may have dealt with situations that were a lot bigger than the current situation so you don’t need to be upset, are ways in which toxic positivity is reinforced.

Episode 18: "She Used Her Grief As A Form Of Activism"
Wednesday Oct 28, 2020
Wednesday Oct 28, 2020
This week’s episode is a dedication to Black History Month as the discussion is on prominent figures in black history who advocated for racial equality and civil rights for black lives. Black lives have always mattered and this is not something we have come to realise due to recent events.
The likes of Mami Till, the mother of Emmet Till, was instrumental in the fight for change in an era of extreme racism. Today’s episode also focuses on what is happening in Nigeria with #EndSars.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is a unit of the Nigerian police that was set up, in 1992, to tackle and solve violent crimes.Members of SARS have abused their power by carrying out the same crimes they were put in charge to solve.

Saturday Oct 10, 2020
Saturday Oct 10, 2020
In this bonus episode we discuss male grief and stigma. Today is World Mental Health Day and all mental health matters, and that includes men. There is often a stigma attached to men when it comes to vulnerability. It is okay not to be okay and that shouldn’t emasculate any man or make anyone feel less than. There is a lot of work to do in order to break the stigma.
Our guests, Callum and Liam, share their experiences with grief and how they deal with their mental health. They are part of an organisation called Let’s Talk About Loss which is a bereavement organisation.
Let’s Talk About Loss supports those aged 18-35 who have lost a loved one. Let’s Talk About Loss offers support to hundreds of bereaved young people, with 23 locations throughout the UK, however only an estimated 20% of members of the bereavement organisation are men
